Tiger Artist:

I could utilize this artist in a tiger artist lesson plan by discussing the big idea of

identity.  I would show the artwork and discuss how these different artists all

portrayed identity.  We would discuss how none of these are self-portraits and how that affects the work.  The artist is portraying their subject in a way that shows their personality.  These pieces all have a style that shows life through their process of creation and stylistic portrayal.  We could do a project where they modeled a portrait out of a material of their choice.  This choice would reflect on the subject. 

 

 

Essential questions:

1.      How does the difference in medium affect the overall feeling of the piece?

2.      All of these pieces are life sized, do you think that using a different scale would give the piece a different feeling?  Why?

3.      How do you think the color choices reflect on the subject?

4.      What are some other mediums that could be used to create a portrait? 

5.      What could each of these different materials mean?

6.      If you created a self portrait of yourself what would you use and why?

 

 

Key Artistic Concepts:

1.      Medium is an important choice that adds meaning to your art work

2.      The Process- allowing the piece to show signs of your process adds interest and gives your art life.

3.      Rendering, how you portray your subject matter speaks volumes. 

4.      Scale, this can create drama and draw attention.
